Jewelry Birthstones Wizard
The many-hued aspect of
Jasper gems
(red, green, yellow, chocolate) and their related virtues was referred to in 1495 by Bartolomaeus Anglicus when he wrote;
The color of Jasper is important in determining the use as an amulet or talisman to which it is beneficial, green being the most valued but red and yellow are used frequently.
In medieval Europe and again, around 1900, carved and engraved gems were popular jewellery gift ideas and it was believed they held powers when used as amulet or talisman.
“A lion or archer engraved on Jasper the wearer from poison and cures fever.”

The different birthstones for the various birthstone traditions are evenly divided between Jasper and Bloodstone for the month of March. But since Bloodstone is green Jasper with red spots it is pretty much the same thing.
When tossing around jewelry gift ideas it is a pretty safe bet to choose Jasper when looking for a unique gift to give that special someone.
